BIO

Lola de la Mata is a conceptual sound and performance artist based in Liverpool. She takes the anarchic being – the ear, as her muse. Tinnitus and aural diversity are at the core of her research practice. Quiet, teetering on the inaudible and imagined sounds emanate from self-made glass and metal instruments expanded through immersive performance contexts.

In 2024 Lola won an Oram Award and a Sound of the Year Award for her experimental debut album ‘Oceans on Azimuth’ released to much acclaim (The Quietus, Electronic Sound Magazine, New Scientist).

Selected commissions, Riot Ensemble, Lisson Gallery, FACT, Nonclassical.
