BIO
Luz Karpat is a duo founded in 2024 in Hannover by vibraphonist Masha Kashyna (Ukraine) and double bassist Cristobal Pinto Santana (Mexico). Their work unfolds between contemporary music, electroacoustic experimentation, and performative installation.
Rather than drawing on their diverse cultural backgrounds as folklore sources, they use them as points of departure for new sonic horizons. With extended playing techniques, electroacoustic transformations, and hybrid sound textures, Luz Karpat develops an open musical language situated between New Music, avant-garde, and Nu Jazz. Their performances explore resonance as both a physical and emotional phenomenon, creating spaces where sound, memory, and collective experience intertwine.
