Christopher Steenson is an artist from Northern Ireland, currently based in Inch, Co. Kerry. His work forges ways of ‘listening to the future’, through site-specific sound-based public interventions and installations, which use field recording, photography and writing as their materials. He is primarily concerned with the shifting elements of our environment, such as declining wildlife populations and the climate crisis, and the entangled role of human activity within these changes.

Recent and upcoming exhibitions and projects include the solo exhibition ‘Soft Rains Will Come’ (2022) for VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, Carlow; ‘Crex, crex, crex, crex, crex….’ (2022–2023) with Ormston House, Limerick; ‘Urgencies’ at CCA Derry~Londonderry, curated by Locky Morris and Catherine Hemelryk (2021); and the national public sound art project ‘On Chorus’ (2020)
