Magazinist is an experimental music duo based in Vancouver. They present collaborative sound art which makes use of found sources, visual and sonic collage, and the translation of material across disparate media. Their installations, including REVERSE SEARCH (2020) and HOTEL FATA MORGANA (2019), attempt to make the overwhelming yet intangible landscapes of data and media hearable, seeable, and feelable. In October of 2023, they will premiere an original score for Fritz Lang’s METROPOLIS, as well as an original composition called LUSTRATE, for the carillon bell tower in Victoria, BC. Their independent work has been presented widely at festivals, both locally and internationally.
