Bio
Jules Rawlinson is a composer, improviser and designer, and Senior Lecturer in Digital Design at The University of Edinburgh. Jules’ works are characterised by filigree layers of detail and texture in sound design, images and musical material in works including Interval and Instance (2018-22), and An Island of Sound (2022-23, with JR Carpenter). Recent outputs make use of ML and AI processes in corpus-based aesthetics of transformation, such as in w[i]nd (2020), an immersive audiovisual experience in a first-person virtual environment. He is one third of improvising laptop trio Raw Green Rust, has releases on netlabel Superpang, and performed at Sonorities, Cryptic, xCoAx, BEAST and Beyond.
